We have been working with Marnie for over a year to prepare our daughter for the 11+ test. Marnie has been incredibly flexible with scheduling and is always approachable. I took my daughter to Marnie for 11+ tuition for over a year. For my own domestic reasons E was only able to attend every other week, but Marnie was unfailingly helpful in offering times that worked for us and although E wasn’t a guaranteed candidate for either of our local grammar schools, with Marnie’s assistance she achieved the pass mark for the one with the higher entry requirement. I’ve no doubt whatsoever that her success in the exam is down to Marnie.
I now hope to take my son to Marnie for his 11+ tuition in due course. In short, I highly recommend her.

Marnie has been an excellent tutor to our daughter for the past seven months (currently in year 2). Marnie’s positive teaching technique has helped our daughter gain confidence with maths and cursive handwriting. Our daughter throughly looked forward to her lessons with Marnie every week. Sadly, we have moved out of the area now, however we would highly recommend Marnie as a tutor to other pupils in the local area.

We wanted to thank Marnie for supporting our daughter through her year of home schooling, while we fought for a place at our chosen school. When we were finally allocated a place, the teachers at the new school said that our daughter wasn’t behind in anything and was well on track with her peers. That was achieved with one lesson a week and work at home!
I’m so glad that we had Marnie during this time off school. We looked at SATs papers with her new class teacher and our daughter said that she feels confident and comfortable with most of the past questions in English and Maths.

Marnie is a fantastic tutor and we would definitely recommend to any child taking the 11+. Her commitment and care to see each child succeed brought out the best in our daughter, who took the grammar test with confidence. Thank you for all the help you have given my son over the past months. He has learnt a lot with you and now finds Maths less of a mystery, and is more open to try instead of giving up.
The school is now offering after-school and lunchtime sessions where the children can be helped, so we have decided to use that instead.

Marnie has been working with my 9 year old for the past three months in preparing him for the grammar assessment tests. My son has recently moved up from Yr 4 to Yr 5, and is August born so has effectively jumped and missed a year of schooling. My son is bright and very capable, but missing a year (as well as the Covid lockdowns) has shown some gaps in his learning. Marnie is working tremendously to fill those gaps, is challenging him at the right level and is excellent in explaining any areas he doesn`t yet understand making it clearly understood in such a way that he is confident in approaching similar types of questions again and completing them accurately. My son enjoys the time he spends learning with Marnie and we are very pleased with his progress to date.

I’m very impressed with how she has engaged with both of them and took the time to understand them both. Both my son and daughter both thoroughly enjoyed their time with Marnie and even asked me if they could carry on going once it was all done! Marnie explained everything to them in a way that they understood and this has resulted in a big boost in confidence!
Both children always had their own lesson and never once did they complain about going, they really enjoyed the lessons and got so much more out of them that I could have hoped for!!

Marnie has been tutoring my son for a short time but, during this period he has enjoyed each session. He likes her calm manner and how she explains things really clearly. He feels he can ask her questions when he doesn’t understand, which he can’t always do in a school situation. He is beginning to grow in confidence and we have seen a change in his motivation for and understanding of, English.

My daughter was very sceptical about having a maths tutor, especially as we commenced sessions online, however she came off the first lesson buzzing with excitement. Marnie has allowed my daughter to choose what she works on and her confidence has grown lots as a result. Marnie has been firm yet encouraging with her and we’re looking forward to what can be achieved ‘in person’ over the coming weeks. I would definitely recommend Marnie to any parent wanting some extra support to help their child return to school after ‘lockdown’, regardless of whether they plan to sit the 11+.

Marnie has been tutoring my daughter in preparation for the 11 plus for five weeks. She is genuinely interested in the way that my daughter thinks about things, and therefore gives her confidence in her own ideas. In the past few weeks she has also taught her new topics – including producing excellent new worksheets for her in Algebra.

Our daughter has had four lessons with Marnie. It has been a success from the start. The atmosphere is firm and friendly, our daughter enjoys the clear, thorough approach that is used by Marnie. Progress most certainly has been made. Homework is realistic, our daughter enjoys being able to mark her own work and discuss it with Marnie. As parents we feel communication is very good, Marnie provides feedback via an exercise book, responds quickly to emails this tutor is great value for money! My son is presently being taught by Marnie in preparation for the 11+. I read Marnie`s profile on Tutorhelp and I was particularly attracted to her emphasis and views on English comprehension. This is the area of the exam that my son needs the most one to one help with. It was a little bit daunting choosing a tutor from an online site but I am so pleased with my choice. Marnie`s knowledge of childrens learning, her experience of the 11+ learning materials and what the children need to know has really impressed me. Due to this knowledge, Marnie is extremely flexible and able to provide interesting and additional colourful learning materials. She is not reliant on the test papers alone as a resource and she will use her own resources too. I have also had the pleasure to see for myself Marnie`s child-centred teaching style and engagement with my son. I find her multisensory approach outstanding, heart warming and very engaging. My son loves learning with Marnie. My son`s teacher at school has said that whatever we are doing at home is working. I would highly recommend Marnie as an 11+ tutor.

I highly recommend Marnie as a tutor, as I have had the pleasure of sending my three children to her over the past five years. Marnie developed a wonderful relationship with my boys and instilled a true love of learning. She is extremely patient, happy, easy going and approachable as a person; something which I feel is vital when building up a rapport with young children. Her ability to connect with her students and her subject knowledge at teaching simple concepts, as well as more advanced topics, are both superior. She has excellent written and verbal skills, not only with her students but with parents as well. I have always had informative feedback, letting us know what our boys have completed each week and how they have got on. Through weekly tutoring, my boys have become more confident in their own ability and have developed a self-belief that they can achieve what they set out to do. Two of my children (one hasn’t taken it yet) passed the 11+ with flying colours after spending a year working with Marnie and both are still doing extremely well as a result of this.

I have known Marnie Nicholas for over 6 years and she has tutored all three of my children in that time. She is extremely organised and very dedicated to her pupils. She takes the role of educating children very seriously and at the same time has a wonderful rapport with them. I have noticed a great improvement in my children’s school grades since they attended Mrs Nicholas’s classes. All three have looked forward to the classes and learning new topics.

Marnie has been involved as a tutor for my 4 children for their 11+ test. In that capacity, she has taught each of the children 1-1 on a weekly basis over the period of 1 year. She has extraordinary patience with the children and through her own teaching career Marnie is very experienced also in dealing with children of different abilities. One of my sons is very young in his year and needed some extra help with English – Marnie provided this as part of the tutoring session. Could there be any more praise than to say that the boy who thinks English is a waste of time actually enjoyed these sessions?
All 4 children passed the 11+ and have looked back at these tutor sessions as enormously useful and have benefited from the content right into year 7. I can highly recommend Marnie for the caring and understanding teaching that she offers.
